A one-person studio in South Africa

Small, calm apps for real problems.

I have ADHD, and every so often my attention locks on to something and won't let go. I build my apps in those bouts of hyperfocus, usually to fix something in my own life. Then I share them, in case they fix something in yours too.

The cells

Each app is a cell in the hive: one problem, one small app that does it properly.

Kaapse Train Times

Next trains, journeys and fares for Cape Town Metrorail. Works offline.

  • Free
  • Web app you can install
  • Works offline

An offline-first timetable for Cape Town's Metrorail network. Three taps to the next train: pick a line, pick a station, see departures. Built for patchy signal and data-light phones.

  • Next departures with a countdown, with weekday, Saturday and holiday detection
  • Journey planner with transfers
  • Official fares and a fare calculator
  • English, Afrikaans and isiXhosa, plus favourites and links to the official per-line WhatsApp update channels

Independent. Not affiliated with PRASA or Metrorail. Shows published timetables, not live train positions.

Kaapse Train Times in dark mode, listing the next inbound trains from Muizenberg to Cape Town with minutes to departure.
The journey planner in light mode, showing trains from Cape Town to Fish Hoek with departure, arrival and travel times.

Sit: Meditation Timer

One circle, one bell, no streaks, no guilt.

  • Free
  • Web
  • Android
  • No account
  • No ads

A quiet meditation timer for restless or ADHD brains, with no gamification. Mind-wandering is normal. Wander off as much as you like — coming back is the whole practice.

  • 2, 5, 10 or 20-minute sits, or a custom length, with a synthesised singing-bowl bell and optional interval or random reminder bells
  • Three narrator-free guided sessions: loving-kindness, four pillars and four brahmaviharas
  • A “My mind wandered” button, and the end screen counts how many times you came back
  • No streaks, no history, and it works offline
The Sit timer: a single circle showing 10:00, a Begin button, and length and interval-bell options.

Classy

Less admin. More time for your classes.

  • Now piloting
  • For studios and gyms
  • White-label

A white-label class-booking app for studios and gyms: yoga, pilates, HIIT, spin and so on. Members book and pay on their phone, and the app carries the studio's own name, logo and colours.

  • Self-service booking, with a waitlist that auto-fills
  • Class packs and credits, with a cancellation cutoff
  • Card payments in rand via Paystack, or EFT
  • Monthly income statements
Classy's member schedule for a sample yoga studio: a week strip and a list of classes with Booked, Book and Waitlist buttons.

Why a hive?

ADHD comes with an odd superpower: hyperfocus. When my attention locks on, the rest of the world goes quiet and I can build for hours. Pointed at nothing in particular, it's a bit of a menace. Pointed at a real problem, it's the best tool I own.

Every app here started as something I needed myself. I fix the thing, and if it works, I share it. A hive is a collection of cells, and each cell does one job, so each app here solves one problem.

I build from South Africa, and I build the way I like my own software to behave: small, calm, happy to work offline, and no-nonsense.

Got a problem worth hyperfocusing on? Or feedback on an app?

I read every message myself. I may take a day or two to surface, but I do reply.
